North Carolina YMCAs, with state funding, are promoting teen mental health awareness in response to rising challenges. Studies show 1 in 6 teens experience frequent negative emotions, and 1 in 4 have a diagnosed condition. CDC data highlights increased suicidal behaviors and depression since 2019, with 34% of high school students reporting poor mental health in 2021. The initiative aims to normalize mental health discussions and improve support.
On Tuesday afternoons from 1:30pm-2:30pm, we'll have open teen volleyball sessions in our gymnasium!
Sign ups are not required.
On Thursdays afternoons from 1:30pm-2:30pm, teens will have the opportunity to play an array of activities. They'll play either dodgeball, kickball, wiffleball, wooshball, hockey, or ultimate frisbee.

Games will either be 3-on-3 or 5-on-5 depending on the number of sign ups. Instructional warm-up and shooting drills will be implemented prior to game play. Game clock will be used.
