100% class attendance is required for successful completion of the course.
• Those that pass this course will be issued an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. That certification includes Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid.
• Be prepared to enter the water during every class session. Suits without ties that fit tight without risk of strap failure are recommended for girls. Boys, avoid overly baggy suits. Swim shorts are allowed. NO COTTON!
• On the planned prerequisite day of lifeguarding class, should you not pass the required swim test, you will not be charged the remaining class fees. No refunds will be given for the registration fee.
• If you attend all classes and fail the written and/or practical exams, you will not receive a refund.
• Attendance is required at every class for successful completion. A refund will not be issued if you do not attend every class. Late arrival is considered a missed class. See the instructor for any questions or concerns prior to registration.
• Lifeguarding will required physically strenuous activity. You are encouraged to check with your health care professional before participating in the course. If you have a medical condition or disability that might prevent you from participating in assigned activities or have other questions about being able to fully participate, contact your instructor prior to the beginning of the class.
• Form of ID (learner's permit/driver's license/birth certificate)--prerequisite night only.
• Current certificate if recertifying.
• Swim suit (one piece for females) and towels each class.
• Homework/assignments along with pen and paper.
• Water, snacks, lunch on Saturday.
• Goggles
• Book or device to access online book.
• Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
• Sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Communicate verbally to patrons in and around the water and emergency personnel.
• Hear noises and distress signals in an environment that frequently has a lot of background noise.
• Observe and investigate assigned sections of the pool.
• Perform and rescue per training, including water saves, CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
• Register and attend the prerequisite testing on April 24th
• Register and pay for the LG registration fee.
• Once prerequisites are complete, make sure you're registered for the lifeguard class and pay the remaining balance.
• Links and other material will be provided at prerequisites.
• Proof of completion for online work is required at the beginning of skills testing or participant will be asked to leave class. Refunds will not be issued for participants that fail to produce proof of completion.
