General Function

 

The Child Care Front Desk Staff serves as the first point of contact for families, staff, and visitors. Under the direction of the Director of Child Care, this role is responsible for welcoming families, managing check-in and check-out procedures, taking child care payments, registering children for programs, field trips, and special events, answering phones, reviewing voicemails, maintaining accurate records, and supporting daily administrative needs. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, and professional, with strong communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service in a child-centered environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Greet families, children, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner

  • Manage daily child check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring proper authorization

  • Answer and direct phone calls, voicemails, and inquiries in a timely and courteous way

  • Maintain accurate attendance, enrollment, and contact records

  • Support billing, tuition payments, and basic account inquiries as needed

  • Communicate messages between families, teachers, and administration

  • Monitor building access and follow center safety and security procedures

  • Assist with enrollment paperwork and onboarding of new families

  • Maintain confidentiality of child, family, and staff information

  • Organize front desk supplies and materials

  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, copying, and data entry

  • Respond appropriately to parent concerns and escalate issues to leadership when needed

  • Model professionalism and positive communication at all times

 

 

Summer Day Camp Counselor

GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Director of Childcare, the group leader will be responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of YMCA summer day camp programs and upholding the requirements of the NC 5 Star State licensing standards.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supervise and engage groups of children during daily camp activities

  • Plan, lead, and participate in age-appropriate recreational, educational, and enrichment activities

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times

  • Maintain active supervision during indoor play, outdoor play, field trips, and transitions

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with campers to promote inclusion and emotional growth

  • Follow all state licensing regulations, center policies, and safety procedures

  • Assist with behavior management using positive guidance and redirection techniques

  • Take attendance and maintain required documentation and records

  • Assist children with basic needs such as snacks, meals, hydration, rest periods, and sunscreen application (as permitted)

  • Communicate effectively with lead staff, supervisors, and families as needed

  • Set up, clean up, and organize activity areas and camp supplies

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow emergency procedures

  • Model appropriate behavior, language, and problem-solving skills

  • Support campers with varying abilities and needs

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming camp environment
