First Aid and CPR Training

Published 03.05.19

The YMCA is offering a CPR, First Aid, and AED class.

In one year, 475,000 Americans die from cardiac arrest! WORLD WIDE, cardiac arrest claims more lives than colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, influenza, pneumonia, auto accidents, HIV, firearms, and house fires combined. Knowing how to do effective CPR can double or even triple a victim’s chance for survival.

In this class you will learn:

  • How to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants
  • Appropriate First Aid for adults, children, and infants
  • How to perform a rescue if you are the only available responder
  • Signs and Symptoms of Cardiac Arrest and when to call 9-1-1
  • How to relieve a foreign body airway obstruction (Choking)
  • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training provided as an add on for an additional $15.

Community CPR and First Aid Training: Finch YMCA Members: $50           Non-members: $70
Optional Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Training Add-on: $15

Course Prerequisites:    Participants must be strong enough to compress an adult’s chest to the proper depth, 2 to 2.4 inches and must not mind working in close proximity with others. American Red Cross recommends age 12 but all ages are welcome if they can compress an adult chest to the proper depth.

Saturday, March 30th, 2019             10:00 am-4:00 pm

AED training will take place at the end of the course

Please bring with you to class:

  • Water/Drinks/Snacks and Lunch, we will probably do a working lunch unless we are ahead in material
